Smak Zone Tank and PAV
Rules & Information
Keep these rules with your tank.
1. Tanks shall be constructed
solidly and have one 2 foot by 2 foot square, white target mounted on
each side of the vehicle with the bottom edge no lower than 24 inches
from the ground. If a tank elimination is in question, the tank referee
may call a time out to inspect the cannon hit on the tank's target.
2. Tanks should look like they
belong in the game. Pickup trucks, vans, or 4 wheelers with camo
netting do not fit in with the theme of the game. At a minimm, give it
a paint job! Many people go to great lengths to build a "tank" that
looks like a "tank" and we applaud those who go to the trouble. Tanks
should be constructed of materials that will stand up to the elements.
This means no cardboard.
3. Tanks can operate as both troop
transporters and gunships.
4. Viewable area of 360 degrees.
This means the occupants must be able to see all around the vehicle
with no blind spots either through windows or with mirrors. The
occupants must be able to communicate with the driver. If the tank is
too big, then an intercom or radio system is required so that the
occupants can tell the driver what is going on and how to deal with it.
5. The vehicle must be readily
identifiable as to which side or team it is on. Taping on all four
sides or a colored flag that is visible from every angle is preferred.
6. A white flag on a mast that can
be raised or lowered or a flashing light that is visible from all
angles should be on the tank to indicate when it is out of play.
7. FULLY functional
brakes are a MUST. The terrain includes some rather steep
hills.
8. Even if a vehicle meets all of
the above conditions, it may only be used with pre-game approval of the
management. After approval, the vehicle may be required to be escorted
by a full time referee or RIP (Ref-In-Play). Often, the driver is the
designated RIP for his tank.
9. Tanks may travel no faster than
walking speed, about 5 miles per hour.
10. Masks must be worn at all times
inside the vehicle while it is inside the field boundaries.
11. Tanks guns can shoot in semi
auto mode or using a response trigger only with one shot per trigger
cycle. There is no limit to the number of guns that can be fired out of
a tank.
12. Vehicle mounted guns must chrono
at 285 fps.
13. Tanks will become active (in
play) at the field tank entry and as they leave the safe zone
surrounding their respective team HQ's or DZ's. Tanks should check in
with their command base or via radio to see where they can best be used
by their command.
14. A
tank may not stop at any point on the field for more than one minute at a time except
at their own command center. Otherwise, tanks must be on the move at
all times unless specifically assigned in a mission where the tank must
aid in defending a specific location or perimeter. This does NOT mean
stopping for a few seconds then rolling a few feet and stopping again.
Once a tank has stopped, they must roll for a minimum of 2 minutes
before stopping again. Tanks breaking this rule will be sent to
reinsert. Tanks repeatedly breaking this rule will be removed from play
as well as it's driver and occupants.
15. Tanks can only be eliminated by
artillery fire or another tank's main gun (cannon) or by gun fire
hitting the kill switch (if the tank is so equipped.) Grenades do not
eliminate tanks. In order to identify cannon paint marks from gun fired
paint marks paint for cannons will be a separate color so you need to
schedule ahead if you mean to bring artillery which fires paintball
loads. Otherwise, 50% of 30 round paintball loads must break on target
for it to count as an elimination and that can be difficult to count
due to the amount of paint that player markers leave. Cannons should
only be fired at the rear or sides of the tank. Depending on the size
of the tank, artillery fire may be required to strike a specific target
on the body of the tank in order to eliminate it. Once eliminated, tanks must leave the
field with all crew and riders for reinsertion. Players may not use the
eliminated tank as cover while it is exiting the field.
16. Personnel inside the tank can be
eliminated by small arms fire and are also considered eliminated when
the tank itself is eliminated. Shooting into the gun ports of a tank at
point blank range is not allowed. No player is be allowed to
approach a tank within 10-15 feet while it is in motion on the field.Â
Â
17. Anything used as cover (forts,
houses, bunkers, large trees, etc.) may be demolished by the tank's
cannon, eliminating any player inside it. Structures may be immediately
used for cover by other players.
18. Tanks may not engage people at
less than 20' nor may they block doorways to buildings. Closer than 20'
in a tank is tantamount to bunkering which is forbidden. Tank gunners
are not to shoot at another tank except with a cannon.
19. No player may approach within
10-15 feet of any tank while it is in motion. This allows the players
to use the tank as a moving shield, yet maintains a safe distance from
it. Players within 10-15 feet of a tank get one warning, and then are
called out and must leave the field for reinsertion. Players charging a
tank that break the 10-15 foot rule are automatically called out and
must leave the field for reinsertionat their designated dead zone. The tank
ref should enforce the 10-15 foot rule stringently.
20. Tanks are allowed
on the field to increase the level of fun in the game. If your tank,
its crew, and your actions do not contribute to the fun had by the
other players (all of them), then you will be required to change the
way you are playing or leave the game.
21. Tanks must follow the designated routes at all times. At no time
may they leave the roadway. tank route maps will be distributed prior
to the event to the drivers.
22. Tanks must remain a minimum of 100 feet apart on the designated
routes.
23. Tank drivers are drivers, not gunners. Their attention should be on
the road. They are only allowed to shoot from the tank while at a
complete stop.
24. Pull over locations for tanks are to be used only as time out and
check spots. No firing from the tank at these locations.
These rules should be studied carefully and any questions asked prior
to coming to the event. As a tanker, it is you're responsibility to
know the rules. Thanks to armoredfistpaintball
for helping to provide these rules.
